Our impact & commitments
Natural water swimming
At the heart of Sea Lanes Canary Wharf is a 50m natural floating pool within Eden Dock. Using the dock’s natural water and operating without pool heating, it offers a unique open water swimming experience with significantly lower energy requirements than many traditional swimming facilities.
Nature and biodiversity
Sea Lanes sits within Eden Dock, a first-of-its-kind urban oasis created by Canary Wharf Group in partnership with the Eden Project.
Designed to support biodiversity while creating opportunities for people to connect with nature, Eden Dock is home to extensive planting, floating habitats and thriving wildlife. Sea Lanes has been carefully designed to work alongside this environment, helping more people access the water while supporting the long-term ecological ambitions of the dock.
Designed for reuse
Sea Lanes Canary Wharf has been designed with circularity in mind. Every major element of the destination has been selected so it can be reused, relocated or repurposed in the future.
This includes the modular floating pool, FSC-certified timber walkways and decking, changing rooms, saunas and planting throughout the site.
Powered by renewable energy
The site is powered by renewable electricity and supported by on-site solar energy generation, helping to reduce its operational carbon footprint.
Accessibility and inclusion
We believe open water swimming and waterside wellbeing should be for everyone. That’s why accessibility has been built into Sea Lanes Canary Wharf from the outset.
The site includes accessible facilities throughout, step-free access to social spaces, wheelchair-accessible saunas and assisted access into both the pool and dock water, helping more people enjoy the benefits of being in and around the water.
Single-use plastic free
Sea Lanes Canary Wharf is committed to being a single-use plastic free site. We encourage guests to bring reusable water bottles and work with our suppliers and partners to reduce unnecessary single-use plastics wherever possible.
Printed responsibly
Where printed materials are required, we aim to make responsible choices. Our menus are printed on Cyclus Offset, made from FSC® Recycled pulp, which produces less CO₂, diverts waste from landfill and uses less water and energy than paper made from virgin fibre.
Green travel
We encourage visitors to travel sustainably wherever possible. Sea Lanes Canary Wharf is easily accessible by public transport, with Jubilee line, Elizabeth line and DLR connections all within walking distance and bike parking is available.
Looking ahead
Sustainability is an ongoing commitment. As Sea Lanes evolves, we will continue to look for ways to reduce our environmental impact, support biodiversity and create a destination that benefits both people and nature.
